Bad Bunny’s ‘El Muerto’ Film Pulled From Sony Release Schedule – Deadline

Sony Pictures said Wednesday that it has been dropped from the release date schedule Dead, the Spider-Man spinoff film starring Bad Bunny, which is being directed by Jonas Cuarón. The Columbia Pictures pic will mark the first time a Latino character leads a live-action Marvel film.

The studio had previously decided Dead will be released in cinemas on January 12, 2024. Today, said that the slot will be filled with The Book of Clarence, the James Samuel-directed picture starring LaKeith Stanfield that comes from Legendary Pictures. It was scheduled to be released on September 22, 2023.

The third domino to move is Dumb front, GameStop photo with Paul Dano. This Columbia film will now move up from its October 20, 2023 date to slide into the September 22 slot.

Sony and Marvel decided Cuarón would direct Dead in October. It was in early development at the time, with Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer writing the script for El Muerto, a character in the Spider-Man universe. In Marvel’s stories, he is an antihero and the son of a luchador who is next in line to inherit the ancestral power of “El Muerto”.

Deadline has reached out to Sony for more details on the move to deregulate it.

The Book of Clarence marks Samuel’s continuation of his Western The harder they fall, which won him a BAFTA. He wrote, directed, produced and composed the new picture, which is inspired by classic Hollywood epics set in biblical times. Stanfield plays Clarence, a down-on-his-luck resident of Jerusalem who embarks on a misguided attempt to take advantage of the Messiah’s rising fame and influence for his own personal gain. The journey that leads him to an exploration of the idea of ​​faith and an unexpected path of it.

Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, Anna Diop, Teyana Taylor, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard and Marianne Jean-Baptiste also star alongside Caleb McLaughlin, Babs Olusanmokun, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Nicholas Pinnock, Micheal Ward, Dillon, Tom Glynn-Carney and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.

Dumb Money tells the true story of ordinary people who flipped the script on Wall Street and got rich turning GameStop into the hottest company in the world. Dano stars with Pete Davidson, Vincent D’Onofrio, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley and Seth Rogen.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo based on the book by Ben Mezrich The Antisocial Network.
