By 2025, Apple’s batteries will use entirely recycled cobalt • Gadget Universe

Apple has announced a major step towards turning itself into an environmentally friendly company. The Cupertino giant has pledged to use 100 percent recycled cobalt as a material for its device batteries by 2025.

Cobalt is an important component in the production of lithium batteries in electronic products. By 2022, Apple will already use 25 percent recycled cobalt, up 13 percent from 2021. However, Apple wants to make it 100 percent in the next two years.

In addition, Apple also announced that the magnets in its various devices will be made entirely from recycled materials, including circuit boards that use recycled lead and gold solder. The goal is none other than to become a carbon neutral company from upstream to downstream by 2030.

Apple itself took various steps to achieve its “noble goal”, including perhaps the most memorable one being the elimination of the battery adapter in the sales package. However, the steps taken are more than that.

Apple said the materials in its devices used 20 percent recycled materials by 2022 at the time. This includes iPhone, Apple Watch, MacBook and other devices.
