‘The Flash’ Opens to $9M Thursday – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros./DC’s Flash according to box office sources it is being played as a superhero film of a deeper universe with surrounding 9 million dollars in Thursday night previews beginning at 3 p.m. While the picture’s critical score on Rotten Tomatoes has dropped to a fresh 67% from a fresh 71%, audiences are enjoying it more at 88%. This is a good sign.

Already tonight, Warner Bros. is celebrating first FlashMonday’s latest wins: DC co-head James Gunn and Peter Safran christened Flash director Andy Muschietti, the official director of their future Batman reboot, The brave and the brave, while Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group and Television signed a multi-year pact with the Argentinian director and his producer sister Barbara Muschietti.

FlashThursday is right next to such preview nights as the Sony/Marvel one poison ($10 million), Marvel’s Doctor Strange ($9.4 million), DC Aquaman ($9 million excluding paid steals), still above Marvel’s Ant-Man ($6.4 million).

Wonder Woman made $11 million on its Thursday night. But remember that it was a big, long-awaited DC superhero that moviegoers craved, not to mention that it had the massive media power of Gal Gadot, who was everywhere. Flash is in a very different situation: its star Ezra Miller literally just made their big PR debut for the film on Monday, four days before opening, at the Hollywood premiere; the actor was largely kept out of the $200 million photo promotion machine, given their tabloid history over the past year-plus. also Flash Cast hasn’t been able to make a splash on late night TV since those shows are blacked out due to the WGA Strike.

Weekend outlook for Flash is in the middle 70-75 million dollarshowever, if it imitates the gross patterns of Doctor Strange AND poison, with tonight repeating around 30% of its Friday+ grosses, then Muschietti’s DC superhero film could find its way into + 80 million dollars neighborhood; poison opened to $80.2 million in the US/Canada while Doctor Strange made $85 million.

both Wonder Woman AND Aquaman are beings with slightly different superpowers when it comes to their chests. Although tracking had Wonder Womanwhich opened during the first weekend of June 2017, between $65 million and $75 million (93% RT critics, 83% audience), immediately made waves and beat it to a $103.2 million opening.

Warner Bros - Aquaman 2 Release Dates

Warner Bros.

Aquaman played over a Christmas period in late 2018. While it posted a clean $9 million Thursday in previews, the pic added an additional $4.7 million over the weekend from paid steals for a total of $67.8 million 3 -day, $72.5 million ago Christmas Eve Monday and Christmas Day Tuesday pushed it to a very good start in 5-day previews of $105.4 million. Aquaman it was 65% with critics and 72% with audiences, but ultimately finished with $335M in the US/Canada, a 4.6x multiple of the $72.5M number (it was Christmas and Jason Momoa brought the women).

We now have a majority of schools and people out of work on Monday, June 19 (June 19). So what can this entail? Flash? Since it’s a new holiday, we haven’t seen any major movie action yet; the best movies of last year’s June (which technically was on June 20) – Jurassic World: Dominion, Light Year AND Top Gun: Maverick single digits takes between $6.5M – $8.6M, averaging a -55% drop from their Sunday gross.

Disney/Pixar

Disney/Pixar’s BASIC began previews at 3pm tonight and box office sources peg that Thursday night picture around 3.5 million dollars (light year, considered a mistake for Pixar, it made $5.2 million in previews before a 3-day cume of $50.5 million). until Flash has Imax, BASIC has 2,400 3D locations, 275 PLF auditoriums and 140 4D/D-Box screens embedded in its 4,000 theater bookings. Low projections for the film, which audiences love more than critics on Rotten Tomatoes 88% to 76%, are at $35 million, though it wouldn’t be shocking if director Peter Sohn’s title hits the $40 million range dollars.
